Taking Zoloft for post-partum depression; weight gain out of control

I started taking Zoloft a few months ago for post partum depression and although it has helped my mood tremendously, my weight gain has gone beyond my control– that is, despite regular exercise (4 days a week of intense cardio) and conscientious eating (not to mention, the 500+ calories burned from breastfeeding), I have gained 20 pounds more than I weighed right after giving birth.

Considering antidepressents but scared about weight gain

I am considering antidepressants for anxiety and depression but I am scared of the side effects especially the weight gain. I would like to stay at my current weight because my self-esteem would be gone if I turn into an overweight person. I heard it slows your metabolism and makes you more hungry. I can control my appetite but I can’t control my metabolism.

Budget-Busting Drugs: Understanding The Benefits

The growing use of generic medications has already helped slow the rate by which American spending on prescription medication is increasing. U.S. pharmacists dispensed 18 percent more generic drugs between 2005 and 2007; and generics made up 69 percent of prescriptions filled in 2008. We expect that the use of generics will surge even higher as large numbers of patents expire during the next few years.

For many elderly individuals living with Mild Cognitive Impairment, retaining information may be difficult, completing daily tasks can be demanding, and effectiveness at work may be compromised. Researchers continue to develop and test new treatments to alleviate the symptoms of Mild Cognitive Impairment and clinicians continue to work toward a better understanding of how to help elderly individuals manage their symptoms.

Skimping on care of the newborn is false economy

Despite at least five national reports in the past 15 years urging improved care for the newborn,’ the government has not provided the necessary resources. Much has been achieved locally, but British neonatal care remains inadequate,6 unstructured, understaffed, and under-equipped. These failures have been exacerbated by the success of neonatal intensive care: in the best centres 80% of babies born at 28 weeks’ gestation survive, as do half of those born at 26 weeks.

Murdering While Asleep

A person who commits a criminal act while asleep is not conscious ofhis actions and cannot be held legally responsible for them. The law calls these acts sane automatisms, and Lord Justice Lawton has described them as a "quagmire of the law, seldom entered save by those in desperate need of some kind of a defence."’ Recently defence counsels have shown less reluctance to enter this quagmire. It is therefore essential that the court examines critically any medical evidence presented in such cases.
