Delta
Gamma Philanthropy

Each year Alpha Lambda is proud
to sponsor Anchor Splash®, one of the most well recognized
philanthropic fundraisers in the Greek world today. The 2007
Anchor Splash was held on Saturday, September 22nd, at the Drake
Bell Center pool on the Drake University Campus. It was a great
time of crazy relays and synchronized swimming! The funds that
were raised will help support Service for Sight and other local
charities in the Des Moines community.
We are also proud to announce
that 2007's Anchor Splash® raised more than $5,000. We would
like to thank everyone who supported Delta Gamma and Anchor
Splash®, including family, friends, Drake University and
the Des Moines Community. Without your support, we wouldn't
be able to benefit our philanthropy, Service for Sight, as much
as we could.
If you have any
questions about Anchor Splash®, would like to receive a brochure,
or would like to help us reach our goal, contact Leah
Wrath, director of Anchor Splash®.
Service
for Sight
Altruistic
work during the first World War convinced Delta Gammas that service
was an important part of their Fraternity life. Service for Sight
was born out of a suggestion in an alumnae workshop at Convention
in 1936. The enthusiasm of one particular member, Ruth Billow,
H-Akron, who was blind herself and spoke from notes typed in braille,
was the spark which brought acceptance of Service for Sight as
our national project.Since 1952, Delta Gamma has given $1,315,808
to 42 organizations in the United States and Canada. In 2000,
the Delta Gamma Foundation was pleased to award $150,000 to such
organizations.
